Nasscom chief hails Goa’s efforts on digital bandwidth growth

PANJIM: The president of Nasscom, R Chandrashekhar, has congratulated Goa for its work in expanding the digital bandwidth.

PANJIM: The president of Nasscom, R Chandrashekhar, has  congratulated Goa for its work in expanding the digital bandwidth.
Speaking on the ocassion of the AGM of the GCCI at a hotel here on Sunday evening, he said Digital India was a very important initiative of the Centre. 
He said a confluence of circumstances today has made everything affordable. “The changes were mind-boggling. With the country having just completed a decade in smart phone technology, the state has done a commendable job in expanding the digital network.
He further said e-commerce had transformed the country and now there would be something similar in healthcare with solutions being designed and created in India at a cheaper price.  “Today the main driver was talent, innovation and knowledge of domain,” he said.
Earlier, the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and other members of the government present on the dais urged the industry to back them in their efforts in producing jobs and attract investment. Parsekar said in one-and-a-half years, the state had  attracted Rs 14,000 crores and this would provide job opportunities to 8200 people. He also highlighted the importance of the single-window clearance which was now very helpful for individuals interested in investing in the state.
The IT policy had been created and the government was waiting for the dividends.  The Industry minister Mahadev Naik said NGOs were trying to place hurdles and the industry had to support the government in its endeavour. 
He said in Shiroda, a textile export unit, would commence in two months, and would provide jobs to 500 women. Siddharth Kuncolienker, chairman, EDC Limited echoed the words of the minister when he said the business community and more specifically the chamber had to be more robust in its support to the government especially when faced by problems created by NGO’s.  
Later speaking to media, the CM said a system was being put in place to track projects because he said there were certain officers in the system who were using the legislation to delay it.
