PANJIM: The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Goa in association with the District Election Officer, South Goa will be conducting 12th National Voters Day – a State Level function on January 25 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao at 10.30 am.
National Voters Day is celebrated every year on January 25 to encourage more young voters to take part in the Election process. It was started from January 25, 2011 to mark the Election Commission of India’s foundation day.
Governor, P.S. SreedharanPillai will be the Chief Guest while Chief Secretary, ParimalRai, IAS will be the Guest of Honour and State Election Commissioner, Goa W.V.Ramnamurthy, IAS(Retd) will be Special Invitee for this function.
Governor will inaugurate the Photowall showcasing the history as well activities undertaken for voter awareness under SVEEP. To promote Democratic Electoral participation a pledge will be administered to all the voters present. An online voter pledge has also been launched and available on CEO Goa website wherein a certificate will be granted once the pledge is taken. A video on Covid Safe Voting Process created by CEO office and audio created by Mukesh Ghatwal, District Icon will also be launched.
The event will also have host of cultural programmes to showcase the theme and includes a Live performances, skits, singing etc to be held on the occasion. The function will be followed by felicitation of first time voters, Best ERO/AEROs/ELC and winners of various competition and special Awardees.
Pamphlets designed to create Voter awareness will be launched followed by launch of Voterdost telegram app to help voters with information on electoral process.
