Naval official held guilty of killing lover

The Additional District Sessions Court, Margao on Wednesday held a naval official guilty of killing his lover at Chicalim, Vasco in 2007.
The Court would pronounce the sentence on September 4.
In this sensational case, the Vasco police had charged accused A K Jai Kumar (33) for committing the murder of his lover, Rajlaxmi (28) in his rented apartment at Chicalim on December 4, 2007.
The prosecution examined as many as 29 witnesses in support of its case, which was investigated by the Vasco Police Station incharge and now DySP Sammy Tavares.
Public Prosecution, Asha Arsekar, who represented the state in the case, said the Court found strong circumstantial evidence against the accused in the murder of Rajalaxmi, a native of Chennai.
It was the case of the prosecution that the accused strangulated the deceased to death in his rented premises and concealed her dead body in a wooden container. But, before he could dispose off the dead body from his rented premises, his friend spilled the beans to the police, who took no time to arrest the accused and detect the case.
