MARGAO: The Navelim Village Panchayat gram sabha, which showed very poor participation, the villagers resolved to demand to build a flyover at Ballem, wherein western bypass passes through the area.

At the gram sabha members on Sunday took strong objections to Sarpanch Paul Pereira, conducting the gram sabha meeting, claiming that the court has banned him from interfering with the panchayat matters pertaining to a case filed against him.

However, Sarpanch clarified that there are no such conditions laid down by the court and he has chaired the meeting upon taking legal advice.

Villagers also expressed their objections to the govt decision to levy duty on public lighting and demanded a shift to solar power panels.

In the beginning, members present at the gram sabha took strong objections to Sarpanch Paul Pereira chairing the meeting, as they claimed that he had been booked by police in one of the cases pertaining to house tax.
