VASCO: The Indian Navy team of engineers from military engineering services carried out a comprehensive survey of the entire area following complaints from the Vaddem locals staying behind the naval residential area of release of sewage water into the adjoining nullah in the civil area.
In a press release, the Indian Navy said, “After the survey, it has been ascertained that whilst a small pool of stagnant water had gathered inside the defence area close to the boundary, there was no wastewater released into the nullah or the civil area.”
“Upon testing it was ascertained that the stagnant water was treated water overflow from the Sewage Treatment Plant inside the defence residential area. Further, water was accumulated in a foundation trench, dug for the security wall under construction. The overflow of treated water has been plugged immediately,” it said.
“Further, the construction trench with stagnant water has been immediately filled with sand to avoid mosquito breeding,” the navy added.
