MAPUSA: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Sanjay Barde on Monday submitted a memorandum to Dr Swati Mulgaonkar, Medical Superintendent of North Goa District Hospital, highlighting several issues including non-functioning of toilets and non-availability of medicines.
Barde brought to the notice of Dr Mulgaonkar that one of the two toilets in Ward 241 (female ward) has not been functioning for the past several months due to which the patients are inconvenienced. This is a 28-bedded ward and along with the patients the attendants too are made to suffer.

Barde said the toilets are non-functional as they are choked and need urgent attention. It is leant that during emergency the women have to use the toilets from the adjoining male ward.
Barde highlighted the non-availability of medicines in the government-run pharmacy in the hospital premises. Patients are forced to buy the same from private medical stores, Barde said and pointed out that not all patients can afford to buy medicines and as such medicines should be made available at the pharmacy. Barde blamed the Health Department for the prevailing situation at government-run pharmacy.
The NCP also brought to the notice of the Medical Superintendent the non-functional lights at the main entrance gate of the District Hospital.
