NCP to field Abhijeet in Siolim

PERNEM: Abhijeet Dhargalkar, a social worker has been nominated as NCP candidate for Siolim constituency for 2017 polls.

Dhargalkar’s candidature was announced by NCP, Goa unit, President Jose Philip D’Souza at a public programme held at Parra-Canca.
Addressing the gathering, Dhargalkar said, “In last twenty years, Pernem, Mndrem, Tivim constituencies have developed, however Siolim has not developed. Even though the MLA representing Siolim is a minister in the government, he could not develop the constituency.”
“As a social worker, I am carrying out development works worth Rs 86 crore in Siolim and the same are nearing completion. However, the BJP government lays only foundation stones without starting the project work,” he said.
Claiming that when he was the minister for civil supplies, he ensured that best quality food grains were supplied through the public distribution system, NCP President Jose Phillip accused the BJP government of supplying poor quality food grains under the system.
Accusing the government of increasing tax on goods exponentially and hiking power and water tariff exorbitantly, Jose Phillip said it was time to make the BJP sit at home after the elections.
Slamming the BJP for outsmarting the Congress in corruption, Jose Phillip alleged that the amount of corruption committed by the BJP during the last five years is double than the corruption committed by the Congress during its forty year-rule.
“The BJP is not working for the development of poor, but for the rich corporates. After coming to power, Prime Minister Narandra Modi embarked on many foreign tours, but never meet the poor even once,” said Nazir Khan, chairman of NCP Minority Cell, South Goa.
