PONDA: Lying in neglect since past five years, Bandodkar football ground at Kashimutt Bandora will get a new lease of life as Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Friday said the ground will be renovated at a cost of Rs one crore.

“PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral has taken the initiative for the maintenance work and CM Pramod Sawant has also approved the renovation work. Since Bandora Panchayat expressed inability to maintain the ground, the task of maintenance work is now given to PWD. Though the tender was issued for maintenance, due to Covid pandemic the work could not be done for past two years. But now the government is doing it,” Dhavalikar said.
The new turf will have a walking track. Similarly, the high tension 33 KV lines passing over ground would be removed and replaced with coated conductors.
He also said that the KTC Bus stand at Ponda would be repaired with hotmix carpeting from November. Similarly the 15 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant for Ponda would be inaugurated in December. Most of the roads in Marcaim and surrounding areas would be hotmixed soon at an estimated cost of Rs two crore. This includes Patto Ramanathi to Wagdar road and Patto road. He also said the Perigal and Ambegal roads would also be hotmixed next month.
The old dilapidated tourist complex at Kavlem will be demolished and a parking space would be made.
