Nepali held over hoax call

PANJIM: A man who claimed that seven terrorists had entered the State capital, was arrested on Thursday morning.

Binbahadur Bista, a 36-year-old job seeker from Nepal had called Panjim police station at about 4 am claiming terrorists had entered Panjim. “We deployed our personnel to check for suspected terrorists while we also began tracing the caller to verify the information. Security was beefed up to ensure there is no untoward incident. The mobile phone through which he called the police station was initially switched off but we later tracked his whereabouts only to find he had made a hoax call,” DySP Serafin Dias said on Thursday.
Bista was subsequently arrested and is being interrogated. Police confirmed he was not drunk at the time he made the call.
