VASCO: At last New Vaddem residents have a reason to smile as their 40-year-old demand for a road has finally been fulfilled.
The work to construct the road in New Vaddem has commenced under the funds received under the 14th Finance Commission.
Works have been initiated in all the wards of Mormugao Municipal Council at an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore.
MMC Chairperson Kritesh Gaonkar said he has been planning to complete these long pending works for the last 3 years and added that he will now use this opportunity to complete all pending development works in the municipal wards.
“Development works worth Rs 14 crore will be taken up in all wards, the estimates of which have been prepared and the same will be forwarded for approval,” Kritesh informed.
“Three new roads will be constructed. One near Sanman Hotel, the other in Vasco and another in New Vaddem, the work of which commenced today,” said Kritesh.
The locals expressed happiness over the commencement of the road work as they have been inconvenienced for the last 40 years.
