The GGF has warned that if the traffic violations and congestion are not solved within seven days from the date of receipt of its notice, it would be forced to file a petition in the High Court for not acting on its complaint.
Earlier, GGF had a filed complaint before the South Goa Collector, Assistant Director of Transport and also the Cuncolim Police inspector, bringing the issues to their attention.
“In that complaint, we pointed out that buses plying between Canacona and Margao obstruct the traffic at the Cuncolim bus stand by stopping on the national highway to collect and drop passengers,” the GGF said.
The GGF also informed that there is no traffic police posted there to man the traffic thereby permitting the errant bus drivers to violate traffic rules and Highway Code of behaviour with impunity.
“This traffic violation by the bus drivers happens usually in the morning causing undue nuisance and inconvenience to the public especially to school/ college going children/ students who invariably reach late due to the traffic congestion” the GGF said.
