MARGAO: Bhumiputra Seva Sangathan on Sunday complained to the Maina Curtorim Police against John Nazareth, the president of Goa Government Employees Association, under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The complaint states that John Nazareth gave wrong and frivolous information to the Chief Secretary of Goa vide a letter and to the public by making the letter viral on the social media that the Supreme Court had instructed to stop granting promotions to employees of the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes and that promotions should be only on the basis of seniority.
However BSS pointed out that the Supreme Court had stated that whether to continue with reservations in promotion or not was at the discretion of the respective State government.
The organization accused John of promoting enmity and hatred against members of the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe and pointed out that some SC, SC members who were recently promoted are now being disrespected by members of the general category.
The Sanghathan as requested the Maina Curtorim police to register a case against John Nazareth under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
