PANJIM: NGO Lokancho Aadhar has alleged that the Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) officer Iva Fernandes, who exposed import of formalin-laced fish into Goa, is being mentally harassed and demanded the suspension of FDA Director Jyoti Sardessai.
In a letter to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, NGO president Trajano D’Mello said that Fernandes’ factual report was scuttled. “These charges are made by her in her petition/complaint before the Goa Human Rights Commission, where she has also charged that she is being mentally tortured,” he said at a press conference quoting Fernandes’ deposition before the Commission.
Lokancho Aadhar has urged the minister to restore the self respect, dignity and administrative powers of Fernandes and suspend the FDA Director over the alleged scam.
