MARGAO: Acting on the chief minister’s instructions, the
district collector, South Goa has invited Orixtt Porjecho Awaaz for a
presentation on the Defence Expo to be held on Thursday at the collectorate.
Earlier, locals from Betul, Orixtt Porjecho Awaaz, NGOs
along with Congress Leaders held protests at Naqueri-Quitol on Thursday morning
from 9 am and stopped defence vehicles from proceeding to the site of the Defense
Expo. Congress State President Luizinho Faleiro, Quepem MLA Babu Kavlekar, Ex
Congress MLAs Pratap Gauns, Felipe Neri Rodrigues and Quepem councillors from
Congress were present. NGOs like Goans For Dabolim Only, United Goans
Foundation, Federation of Rainbow Warriors and Goans For Sustainable
Development also present.
At around 11 am the Quepem Mamlatdar met all the people at
the site and invited them through a written notice to attend the 4 pm joint
meeting at the collectorate in Fatorda where a presentation on the Defence Expo
will be made by the South Goa district collector. OPA who had filed the
memorandum to the government has agreed to attend the meeting.
Meanwhile a group of Naqueri youth have called for a press
conference to be held on Thursday where they will voice their support for the
Defence Expo.
