“This year the charter flights will start arriving in Goa from the first week of October and we will receive more tourists from the UK,” he added.
“NGOs & NGT have delayed many tourism-related developmental works, otherwise the work of Colva circuit would have been 50 per cent complete,” he said while answering a media question.
“We have dropped the 40-meter tower to be constructed in Colva, which would have been a tourist attraction, because of NGOs & NGT,” he said.
Defending Parulekar, Vijai Sardesai said, “Although I am in the opposition, I will always support the govt in tourism-related issues as tourism is a growing industry and a sure income for the State to survive. We have to improve infrastructure & facilities for tourists,” said Sardesai
Parulekar also blamed the decline in the Russian economy for the reduced flow of foreign tourists to Goa this season.
