MAPUSA: The ongoing work for widening the highway at Colvale has become a matter of concern for those traveling on this road, especially at night. The entire stretch between Colvale and Mapusa is pathetic and not motorable. The condition of the road near the Central jail at Colvale has deteriorated.
Locals condemn the government for playing with the lives of citizens and demand immediate repairs.
Mapusa local Shekhar Naik pointed out that that the stretch between Colvale near the Central jail and Mapusa is in a bad shape.
“There is a need to first give the citizens good roads. Looks like the authorities are waiting for some major tragedy before they fix these roads. The vehicles are getting damaged and even so many lives are at risk. They are demanding the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) but first they need to fix the roads,” Naik said.
Another commuter Suryakant Chodankar stated that the Highway stretch between Colvale and Mapusa is horrible and full of potholes.
“When it rains the potholes are filled with water and cannot even be noticed. Sometime the potholes are very deep and can cause people to fall with their vehicles. The condition of the roads in Goa is going from bad to worst. No one is bothered about the people who are commuting along this stretch,” he said.
