MAPUSA: Nigerian national identified as Michael Nzube suspected to have succumbed to drug overdose while undergoing treatment at St Anthony Hospital and Research Centre, Anjuna, on Saturday.
According to information obtained from Anjuna Police Station, on Saturday around 05.30 hours, the deceased Nigerian while travelling in a taxi when reaching near Bollywood Nights Restaurant, the taxi driver stopped his car for help as the Nigerian became violent.

While the taxi driver stopped the taxi near the restaurant for help, the staff of the said restaurant called police at the spot. On seeing the police arriving, the Nigerian national became more violent and started assaulting the owner of restaurant and one of the staff.
Thereafter, the police with the help of staff managed to calm the said foreigner and shifted him to St Anthony Hospital, Anjuna for treatment. The police informed that as per the taxi driver, the said Nigerian national was suspected to have consumed some narcotic drug, resulting in becoming violent and furious.
Meanwhile, the restaurant owner Sandesh Chandrakant Pilankar lodged a complaint against the Nigerian national for assaulting, abusing and threatening him and his staff to kill and also damaging the taxi.
Later, the Anjuna Police received a letter from Dr Jawaharlal Henriques of St Anthony Hospital and Research Centre, Anjuna, stating that the said Nigerian national, who was admitted in hospital for treatment, is succumbed and is suspected to be drug overdose. Anjuna police have now registered offence under Section 174 CrPC.
