CALANGUTE: In a narcotic raid at Baga, the Calangute Police on Thursday arrested a Nigerian national Stephen Ugochukwu for illegal possessing narcotic substances worth Rs 66,000. During the interrogation it was revealed that the accused was found to be staying in Goa without a valid passport or visa. A complaint to this effect has been forwarded to the Mapusa Police Station for appropriate legal action under the provisions of Foreigners Act, 1948.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi said that they received information regarding the accused coming to Tito’s lane, Baga along with drugs to be delivered to prospective customers.
Accordingly a team was formed and the police waited at Baga in civil clothes and the accused was rounded up.
During personal search the accused was found in possession of 150 gms of ganja worth Rs 15,000 and 17 gms charas worth Rs 51,000 in the international market.
And offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered. The raid was carried out from 1 pm to 3 pm.
The raiding team comprised PSI Manguesh Volvoikar and constables Vijay Pilarnkar, Shreyas Sakhalkar, Smital Bandekar and Amir Naik.
