PANJIM: The Calangute police have seized a huge haul of drugs including synthetic and manufactured drugs from a Nigerian during a raid near Porbowado on Sunday.
PI Jivba Dalvi said that on a tipoff, the police intercepted a Nigerian along an internal road near at Porbowado and caught him red handed with the consignment.
“The accused person came on a scooter in the afternoon and waited for customers. He was immediately rounded up by the police in civil clothes and inquired about his presence at the spot. During further questioning, he confessed to possessing narcotics,” Dalvi said.
During the search the police found a cocktail of drugs including MDMA (alpha – dimethyl methylene) worth Rs 78,000, Morphine worth Rs 40,000, Amphetamine worth Rs 72,000, Charas worth Rs 6.39 lakh, LSD (didehydro-N methylergoline) papers worth Rs 2.30 lakh and Ganja worth Rs 46,000, total value of which came to around Rs 11.05 lakh approximately in international market. In addition to this, one Yamaha Fashion scooter was also seized.
The alleged drug trafficker was later identified as Frank, aged 32, and temporarily residing at Calangute.
An offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) 20(b)(ii)(B), 21(a), 22(b) and 22(c) of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered for possession of small, variable and commercial quantity of drugs.
