Nigerians top list in drug cases

PORVORIM: Nigerian nationals top the list of the foreigners involved in drug cases in Goa, accounting for more than half of those arrested in the related crime in the last four years. 
As per the information revealed on the Floor of the House by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, of the total 232 drug cases reported in the State since 2012, 98 were foreign nationals including 59 Nigerians. 
The statistic reveals that 263 persons were arrested in connection with 232 FIRs registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Of those arrested, 59 were Nigerians, 13 Nepalis, three Israelis, three Russians and three Britons.

People of Goan origin linked to drug cases were 54 and non-Goans 101. Most of the drug seizures happened in North Goa with quite a few cases booked in Calangute itself which is a tourist hot spot. Narcotics substances such as charas, ganja, cocaine, heroin, LSD, and Katamine were seized in the raids.
