Nine new places notified as ‘pay parking’ areas in Panjim

As per the rates notified by the District Collector, the owner of a four-wheeler will have to pay Rs 20 for the first hour and 15 rupees every extra hour thereafter, whereas a two-wheeler owner will pay Rs 4 up to four hours and Rs 8 between 4 to 12 hours

PANJIM: The Office of the District Magistrate, North Goa has notified nine places as ‘pay parking,’ which would add to the existing pay parking spots across the capital city. 

As per the notification, the pay parking areas consist of the Patto Plaza and the road leading from Old Patto Bridge to Vrindavan Building (Opposite government quarters) and  the road leading from Sapna Building to Cardozo building in Patto; M G Road, along roadside from Betim Ferry to Sulabh Toilet on D B Road, from Keni Petrol Pump near Old PWD Building to Old Patto Bridge and  Largo da Estancio – opposite to head post office and behind the Maser General Office to Predio Abilio Coelho – Pereira building on D B Marg; from Menezes Braganza Road to Cedmar Apartment via Neptune Hotel, from Hotel Mandovi to Custom House Gen. Assa. Road behind Custom House and in front of GST Commissioner Office, M G Road; Vinanti Hotel and side of Custom House touching D B Marg; road between 18 June Road and Menezes Braganza Road up to Frank Chamber and from Inox to Geeta Bakery to Government printing press building (General Bernado Guedes Road). 

As per the rates notified by the North Goa District Collector, the owner of a four-wheeler will have to pay 20 rupees for the first hour and 15 rupees every extra hour thereafter, whereas a two-wheeler owner will pay Rs 4 up to four hours and Rs 8 between 4 to 12 hours.

The Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP), had re-started pay parking in August 2019 in a bid to decongest the city and bring discipline in parking of vehicles. 

It may be recalled that in phase-1, the CCP had started pay parking across around 10 lanes in the capital city.
