MARGAO: The no-confidence motion against Mafaldina Martins, Deputy Sarpanch of Chandor Cavorim will be held on July 20 at 11 am in the panchayat office as per the order issued by the Block Development Officer.
Four of the seven members of Chandor Cavorim panchayat had moved a no-confidence motion against Mafaldina on July 6 citing “non-co-operative attitude” as the reason. The motion has been signed by Arlnda Tereza, Sarpanch Celina Furtado, Derrick Braganza Pereira and Edward D’Silva.
It may be recalled that Mafaldina recently led a group of people from her ward and neighbouring one to MLA Clafasio Dias seeking an explanation as to why the Cotta road in their area was not asphalted along with other roads in the village.
She subsequently led a delegation to the panchayat and raised the same issue with the Sarpanch and other panchayat members and this appears to be the reason regarding the no-confidence motion moved against her.
