No COVID check at Patradevi checkpost

PERNEM: The vehicles from neighbouring States are having a free movement through the Patradevi checkpost since the Goa-Maharashtra border at Patradevi is open and does not have a facility in place to keep a check on the COVID-19 infected people’s movement.

All types of vehicles from other States are freely entering into the State since the authorities have not yet set up any facility at the Patradevi checkpost to check body temperature with thermal scanning.

Last year, teams of Goa Police, Pernem Deputy Collector and Mamlatdar were deployed at the Patradevi checkpost to conduct thermal scanning and to note down entry of vehicles and people entering into the State.

However, now when the COVID cases are on the rise in the State, the authorities have not made any such provisions at the Patradevi checkpost which is the entry point into the State from Maharashtra and hundreds of vehicles enter into the State every day.

While Excise and RTO offices are in place at the Patradevi checkpost to check any illegal transportation, provision to control COVID and stop carriers of COVID into the State since vehicles carrying goods enter into the State and scanning of the drivers and cleaners of such vehicles is required since they directly enter in the markets areas.
