No deadline for Goa-Mumbai 4-lane highway

NEW DELHI: The government on Thursday declined to give any deadline for widening of the Goa-Mumbai National Highway into a 4-lane road.

NEW DELHI: The government on Thursday declined to give any deadline for widening of the Goa-Mumbai National Highway into a 4-lane road.
Responding to a question by Dr Bharatkumar Raut in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways said so far only 21-km long section from Patradevi (Goa border) up to Zarap costing Rs 264.05 crore has been completed last May-end. The work had started in March 2006.
He said the work on the 84-km long Panvel-Indanpur section on Mumbai side, estimated to cost Rs 942.69 crore, also started in December 2011 and it is expected to be completed by October 2015.
The minister said feasibility studies of four other sections totalling, 366-km from Zarap to Indapur has been also approved and action has been initiated for the project appraisal proposal.
