PONDA: Under current political scenario in Goa, MGP leaders said they have no plans to merge with any other political party even if Sudin Dhavalikar is offered the chief minister’s post in the eventuality of Mr Parrikar being forced to take a medical related break and have a caretaker CM.
Both PWD Minister Sudin and Party President Deepak Dhavalikar, through their speeches, made their intentions clear that other than CM Manohar Parrikar-led Government they are in no mood to support any attempt by BJP or any other political party to form a new Government under a new leadership.
Party President Deepak said that “MGP had only supported the government led by CM Parrikar and until he is CM, MGP will continue support to him. Besides Manohar Parrikar, MGP will only support the leadership of Sudin. “From statement of Deepak it appears that in case of any other political party coming forward and supporting leadership of Sudin to make him Chief Minister then MGP will support it,” said a source from the party.
Meanwhile MGP organised its all Goa party workers melava on Saturday to celebrate its 55th anniversary with 1,500 in attendance at Formagudi.
Leader Deepak, countering the rumours by a section of media about party merger with BJP or another party he said that Sudin had rejected twice such offers in the past and they no plans in future to accept it. Sudin said MGP is for Bahujans and cause of poor. He asked party workers to prepare for Lok Sabha and Assembly election to contest on its own.
Sudin said he rejected the offers to keep the faith entrusted to him by his supporters. “MGP was formed to support Bahujans and the poor of Goa which had gone through atrocities of Portuguese and landlords who suppressed the poor class and it was after Goa Liberation Bahusaheb Bandodkar founded the party to give justice to Bahujans,” said Sudin.
On the occasion senior party workers were felicitated.
