MARGAO: Two and half years after the ruling BJP government permitted a fish meal plant in the Cuncolim Industrial Estate despite stiff opposition from locals, Cuncolim BJP MLA Rajan Naik has now asked the Goa State Pollution Control Board not to issue any new NOCs to “polluting units” like fish meal plants in the Industrial estate.
The Cuncolim MLA has even gone to the extent of saying there’s a great possibility of an agitation by surrounding people if new NOCs are issued to set up polluting units in the Cuncolim Industrial estate.
In a note put up to the GSPCB Chairman Naik drew attention to resolution No 26 of the ordinary meeting held in 2013 in the chamber of the chairperson of Cuncolim Muncipal Council.
