Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) Minister Vishwajit Rane has informed the Goa Assembly that the government has not received any official report or directive from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regarding the existence of “fake eggs” in other states.
Replying to an unstarred question raised by MLA Aleixo Lourenco, Rane said there is currently no official communication from the FSSAI alerting states about fake eggs being sold in the market. He assured the House that the government remains vigilant on food safety matters.
The minister added that Goa has the necessary provisions to test eggs at the State Food and Drugs Laboratory in Bambolim, enabling authorities to verify quality and authenticity whenever required.
The statement comes amid public concern and rumours on social media about fake eggs, with the government urging citizens not to panic and to rely only on verified information, while assuring strict monitoring of food safety standards across the state.
