MARGAO: Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar on Sunday said the government has issued directions to the sub-registrar not to register any sales of property of Ms Bharat Developers even as he disclosed plans to attach the properties of the company in connection with the Canacona building collapse case.
The Chief Minister said he had given the go ahead signal to the police to arrest the two former CMC Officers Dipak Desai and Pradip Naik after the investigating officer spoke about evidence that the entire Ruby Residency project did have the documents and building drawings.
“Though I have not seen the file, I told the police officer to go ahead with the arrest if they felt that custodial interrogation of the two officers was required. The IO briefed me only once since the two former CMC officers are now senior officers in the administration,” the chief minister said.
Replying to a question, the home minister said that neither the company Ms Bharat Developers nor the two directors will escape civil and criminal liability. “The authorities are moving in the direction of attaching the properties of the company. We have already issued directions to the sub-Registrar not to register property sales of the company,” he said.
On CLP spokesman Reginaldo Lourenco’s allegation that the Modi rally in Goa was funded by the absconding builders, Parrikar shot back “Are they ready to resign if they cannot prove that the rally a sponsored by the builders. Otherwise, I am ready to quit office if they prove the allegations. They have developed the habit of talking anything rot. Will any sensible person or builder sponsor a rally after an incident,” he demanded to know.
On the fate of the weak buildings adjoining the collapsed building, Parrikar said “as of now, there is no danger. We have revoked the occupancy certificate. Hence, the buildings cannot be occupied”.
