SANGUEM: The Government Primary School of Mavlinge, which comes under jurisdiction of Kalay Village Panchayat, is currently functioning without a teacher. The school teacher was transferred at Vade, Kurdi. However, nobody is posted as her replacement yet.
There are only three students enrolled at Mavlinge school, which is why the teacher was transferred to Kurdi. The chaos revolving around the teachers of government schools in Sanguem sees no end and parents of these students said that the students come to the school daily, eat mid-day meals and go back home. This has become their routine for the last 15 days.

“Mavlinge is a rural area, the government should not shut down this school. The number of students will increase next year. There are only six months left for the academic year to end. I request the government to appoint a teacher so that the students don’t suffer,” Shobha Gaonkar said.
“We can’t afford to send our children to another school, especially on a daily basis. The Education Department is also not willing to arrange the facility of transportation,” added Gaonkar.
