PORVORIM: The Sangolda gram sabha witnessed noisy scenes over the issue of the development of road by the side of the football ground at Morod, substandard construction of nallah and personal issues of villagers.
Sarpanch Premanand Kochrekar informed that he has submitted his resignation and along with a detailed list of the development works done by him as sarpanch in the last two years. Later, secretary Subhash Fatarpekar read out the minutes of the last gram sabha.
Jimensey Sangodker questioned Sarpanch as to why the road has been constructed by the side of the football ground at Morod.
Sarpanch Prmanand Kochrekar informed the villagers that the panchayat had taken the decision to construct the road at Morod, changing rooms, toilets, bathroom and bore-well out of the donation of Rs 15 lakh given by a builder.
The villagers got furious and argued that the said road was constructed for the convenience of the builder who has developed plots in his property close to the football ground. Hence, they demanded that the panchayat should erect a gate at the entrance of the road construct a retaining at the end of the road to prevent movement of vehicles. Anand Tulasker demanded that this case should be referred to Vigilance department. After heated arguments a resolution was adopted as demanded by the villagers.
Samson Dias mentioned that the construction of the nallahs is of substandard quality. There was no proper mixing of concrete and hence the new nallahs would crumble within few years.
After a discussion, a resolution was adopted directing the panchayat to write to Public Works Department to submit the mixing ratio of concrete for roads and nallahs; and appoint the local panchas to supervise the construction.
Shamba Tuemkar stated that panchayat should request Pillerne panchayat to donate Sangolda panchayat an area of around 3000 sq meters for the development of existing Hindu crematorium. The resolution to this effect was also adopted.
Umesh Sawant from Block Development office, Mapusa was the observer for the gram sabha.
