PANJIM: The process for filing of nominations for the 40-Assembly constituencies in Goa will begin from Friday with issuance of gazette notification on the election schedule. The coastal State will go for polls on February 14.
Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has stated that this time candidates could file their nominations online, apart from filing it offline before the respective returning officers.

Candidates can fill their e-nomination by visiting the ‘Suvidha’ portal ‘suvidha.eci.gov.in’ prepared by ECI.
The last date for filing nomination papers is January 28. The scrutiny of the applications will take place on January 29. Withdrawal of nominations, if any, by the candidates will take place on January 31.
The ruling BJP on Thursday released its first list of 34 candidates while decision on six is awaited.
Similarly, the Congress party has declared 31 candidates including name of seniormost lawmaker Pratapasingh Rane, who had later hinted at quitting from active politics. Their alliance partner- Goa Forward Party (GFP) is contesting from three seats for now.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also released list of 30 candidates so far, while All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) has declared names in eight constituencies. Their allies- MGP is yet to make any announcement.
Revolutionary Goans too have declared candidature across 35 assembly seats.
The newly forged Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena alliance is also yet to declare their candidates.
The polling in Goa will take place on February 14 while counting is scheduled on March 10. The entire election process has to be completed before March 12.
