North DM orders temporary traffic diversion in City

PANJIM: Ahead of the Independence Day celebration on Saturday, North Goa District Magistrate has ordered temporary diversion of vehicular traffic as the flag hosting will be held opposite Old Secretariat in the capital. 

As per a press statement issued by the Department of Information & Publicity, the stretch of DBB Marg from ferry wharf junction to Bandodkar statue (both lanes) will be closed for traffic flow from 8 pm August 14, 2020 till the function is over on August 15, 2020.

Similarly, vehicles entering Panjim via New Patto Bridge on reaching Bandodkar statue will be allowed to take left turn and proceed behind Old Secretariat to take left turn near Joao Castro Road- Match Corner to proceed to their destination via M G Road.

Further vehicular traffic desiring to go out of Panjim, on reaching ferry wharf will be diverted towards Police Head Quarters to proceed to Health Centre, Commerce Point, Church Square to proceed via Jose Falcao road, Joao Castro Road and exit via Old Patto Bridge or via Cortin to proceed to Old Patto Bridge.

Also the traffic desiring to enter Panjim from Hotel Sona junction will be diverted towards Old Patto Bridge and to enter Panjim via new Patto Bridge. The movement of traffic on Joao Castro road, Jose Falcao Road and Dr Pissurlekar Road from Printing Press junction to Hotel Aaram junction will be reversed during the diversion period.

The Goa Police have also made watertight security during the event in and around the city.
