PANJIM: Officers allegedly involved in facilitating the illegal structure of Curlies shack at Anjuna have also been found to be aiding other such structures on the coast.
It is not just Linet Nunes who, with the help officers from the Talathi to Deputy Collector, allegedly got her illegal structure made legal, but in another matter the same officers are being accused before Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) for forging, manipulating and altering govt records.
In the complaint with ACB, Anjuna locals have accused the Talathi of Anjuna-Caisua, the Inspector of Land Survey and Land Records, Mapusa Anand Vaigankar, Deputy Collectors/ SDO of Bardez, Pundalik Khorjuekar for fraud, cheating, altering government records to protect and allow illegalities of Sadanand Yeshi alias Morajkar in survey number 214/1 of Anjuna.
The temporary shack operated by Morajkar since 2007 has been made permanent by manipulating documents at various levels, they allege. Forging the Panchayat NOC claiming the structure existed prior to 1981 they sought a resurvey and by inserting the entry on ‘Gut Book’ with the help of the Talathi legalised it. The final authority to pass the order, the Deputy Collector, allegedly knowing the illegalities involved approved the proceedings without verifying the original documents, the residents alleged demanding swift action. A senior ACB officer said investigations will commence soon.
While the Anjuna VP has been silent over the illegalities, Deputy Sarpanch Savio Almeida said action will be initiated against those involved. He accused the local MLA of pressuring the officers to commit illegality to secure his vote bank.
“We will be verifying the details of the structures within our jurisdiction. These illegalities mainly happen to save structures from demolition due to CRZ violations,” Almeida said.
