MARGAO: With the names of Goa’s first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar and ex-CM Manohar Parrikar already in the running, there are now demands to name the soon-to-be-commissioned Mopa Airport after the Father of Goa’s opinion poll, Jack de Sequiera.  Stating that there is no better tribute to the man who saved the identity of Goa at a time when certain political leaders wanted to merge Goa with Maharashtra, BJP Spokesperson Savio Rodrigues said that the Mopa Airport should be named after Dr Jack de Sequeira.

In a post on social media platform Twitter, Rodrigues wrote, “Mopa International Airport and Dabolim International

Airport should be focused on the economic growth of Goa.”

A few days ago, the villagers of Pernem demanded that the new Airport be named after the first CM of Goa, Bhausaheb Bandodkar. Commenting on this demand, Rodrigues stated that everyone has a right to an opinion, with regards to the naming of State infrastructure after someone important to them.
