PANJIM: After the sale of 12 lakh square metres of land in Tiracol, NGO Generation Next has now claimed there has been another sale of a large amount of land, which is being converted into settlement without permissions from the concerned departments.
“Some 11 lakh square metres of land with Survey Numbers 129, 130 and 131 in Ambegan area of Panchwadi village panchayat is currently being illegally converted without a single permission. Of this, 4,40,000 square metres of land has already been destroyed,” GenNext president Durgadas Kamat said.
He also said that a site inspection conducted by 20 villagers along with the panchayat secretary revealed the destruction, though the panchanama report was not signed by the sarpanch. The land does not fall in the settlement area.
Mutations to several plots in the area were completed, Kamat said.
“Some 100 plots have already been sold of which 35 mutations have been completed. Some of them are bought by Goans but many are also purchased by outsiders from Jharkhand and Bihar,” he said.
The NGO has filed complaints with the Ponda Police and claimed that no action has been taken. A report from the deputy collector of Ponda has also asked for the land to be restored to its original state, but Kamat claims work is still underway. He also added that he would file several complaints with other authorities if no action is taken in the next few days.
