PANJIM: Mayem Bhu Vimochan Nagrik Samiti (MBVNS) President Kashinath Mayekar on Tuesday said the BJP-led government has cheated and misled the people of Mayem by providing provisional sanads and stated 12,000 villagers will decide the fate of the new representative in the coming elections.
Addressing the media, Kashinath Mayekar said “The law enacted by the Goa government has been challenged in the High Court and the matter is still in Court. Parrikar still distributed 62 provisional sanads. We don’t know what to say but the government has misled the Mayekars.”
“What we had asked for has not been given by the government, as all Mayekars had asked for class 1 status in which we become direct owners, but the government has put us in class 2 status by which we become government tenants. The government never took us into confidence while doing this,” Mayekar said.
He said that most of the 62 persons who got provisional sanads are not natives of Mayem and had settled there only after the law came into force.
When asked whether Mayenkars will support BJP in coming elections, Mayekar said, “3500 families comprising over 12,000 villagers will decide fate of our new representative and will not support the BJP.”
He said that as per the provisional certificate, the land granted shall only be used for purpose of dwelling house within area mentioned in the sanad.
