PANJIM: The High Court of
Bombay at Goa has introduced
Online Payment of Court Fees through e-Payment in coordination with the Goa government
and National Informatics Centre .
A
notice uploaded on its official website stated that e-payment of court fees
would be available for the high court, District and Sessions Courts as well as
all sub-ordinate Courts in Goa. The new system will be in addition to the
present system wherein all the Court Fees are paid by way of impressed and
adhesive stamps.

“Sometimes,
there is a shortage of Court Fees Stamps and Advocate/Litigants find it
difficult to obtain Court Fees Stamp. This issue is being resolved by using an
Electronic Technology to provide payment of Court Fees through electronic mode
of payment. This facility will be in addition to existing system of payment of
Court Fees through Court Fees Stamp,” reads the notice.
The
notice also mentions that to avail this service and making electronic payment
of Court Fees, a user must have Internet Banking Account, Debit/Credit Card of
banks specified by payment gateway website.
The
State Legislative Assembly had last year amended the Court Fees (Goa Amendment)
Act, 2016 enabling the e-payment of the court fees. The Bill passed on March
17, 2016 was assented by Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha on April 25.

The
High Court of Bombay at Goa has ordered that carrying of the mobile phone
inside the court halls would be considered as Contempt of the Court.
“All
the parties/litigants and public at large are hereby informed that they shall
not take mobile phones, cameras or audio/video recording devices and shall not
record anything using them inside the Court Halls. These articles should not at
all be brought inside the Court Halls and the person may make his own arrangement
for its safe keeping, for which the High Court Administration does not take any
responsibility,” reads the notice issued by Court’s Registrar General Mangesh
Patil. The high court hitherto would fine the violators.
