PANJIM: The National Students Union of India (NSUI), Goa Unit on Monday served a two-day ultimatum to the Goa University to revise its decision and permit colleges to conduct “online” examination for final year students of undergraduate as well as post graduate general education programmes, which are set to begin via offline mode from January 4, onwards.
The NSUI has also demanded that the exams of the final year students of the engineering courses should be also conducted online from December 28, onwards.
Students led by NSUI on Monday tried to meet GU Registrar Radhika Nayak to reiterate their demand that the exams be held online, since the classes were conducted via online mode. However, the student delegation was not allowed to enter the University campus by the police, who were deployed at the entrance.
NSUI Goa chief Ahraz Mulla said when the classes were held online, why exams are being conducted in physical mode. “This is injustice done to student community,” he said claiming that cutting across party lines, the students are demanding that exams be held in online format.
NSUI is set to file police complaint against the Registrar, alleging that she discriminated an International student, who approached her demanding that exams be conducted online.
