MARGAO: At last better sense prevailed as the South Goa Collectorate on Friday decided to keep its office open on Saturdays and Sundays only to provide the necessary service to nearly 30,000 applicants after O Heraldo highlighted the issue pertaining to posting letters to the job seekers with incomplete addresses.
It appears that following O Heraldo reportage, the Collectorate office decided not to leave any loopholes in the recruitment process.

It is only after O Heraldo questioned the Collectorate officials on the issue, they urged the candidates to visit the website and download the admit card.
The nodal officer informed O Heraldo that his staff will be personally calling the candidates from September 23 onwards and assured that his office will reach out to every candidate by putting in extra efforts to intimate even those residing in remote areas having poor internet connectivity.

O Heraldo on Friday highlighted the issue wherein thousands of letters were posted to the candidates with incomplete addresses, intimating them on the skill tests starting September 29 onwards.
Responding to the issue, the nodal officer concerned informed O Heraldo that a staff will be deployed at the Collectorate office, as the office will be kept open even on Saturday and Sunday only to facilitate the job-seekers.
“Candidates can visit the office any time to resolve their queries if any. Our staff will personally call each candidate to intimate them about the scheduled skill tests,” he informed.
The officer admitted that there are issues pertaining to the poor internet connectivity with regards to candidates residing in remote areas and possibilities of not getting intimation about the skill tests.
“We have planned to use all the social media platforms to reach out to the candidates. A proposal has been also sent to the State Department of Information Technology with regard to sending SMSes to the thousands of applicants,” he added.
There are nearly 30,000 candidates who have applied for the 147 posts in the South Goa Collectorate, including 1,953 for the posts of junior stenographers, 6,500 for nine talathi posts, 15,601 for LDCs and nearly 6051 for the post of multi-tasking staff.
The process of recruitment, which started in 2019, was delayed for the last four years, and this is the third time that the tests scheduled have been announced by the authority.
The nodal officer also appealed to the job seekers to visit the website and download the admit card or seek help from the office for guidelines.
