PONDA: Ponda police on Wednesday booked an offence against unknown persons for illegal slaughter of cattle and hurting religious sentiments based on directives from the Ponda Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).
According to information, Animal Rescue Squad President Amrut Singh had filed a police complaint in May claiming there was illegal slaughter outside the Goa Meat Complex (GMC) at Usgao. Singh had also claimed that the religious sentiments were hurt due to the incident.
Subsequently, Ponda police conducted an inquiry and found that the property, where the bones and skins were found (outside the compound wall of the main building), belonged to the GMC.
Unhappy with police investigation, Amrut Singh approached the JMFC Ponda and the JMFC later directed the Ponda police to register the case.
