MARGAO: Fearing agitation from locals, Education Department and Survey and Land Records officials on Thursday continued the data collection and demarcation of land for the education complex at Davorlim under police protection.
However, the newly-elected panch members of the Davorlim-Dicarpale panchayat said the issue will be taken up for the discussion soon after taking charge of the panchayat i.e. after August 22.
A visit to the site in the morning revealed that presence of strong police force to take control over the law and order situation, if obstruction from the locals, however there was no local to question the authority here. The officials continued with their data collection and demarcation of the land.
An official told Herald that at the first instant they are collecting the data and it will be followed by proper demarcation of the land acquired by the Education Department for the complex.
“On the directions of the Education Department, the final stage of demarcation will commence next week,” he informed.
It is pertinent to note that in 2017, Davorlim locals had strongly opposed the project at the gram sabha claiming that the village stands neglected on the infrastructure front.
Herculano Niasso, newly elected panch member told Herald that people are totally in the dark on the demarcation process.
