PONDA: Ponda Police arrested one Tushar Naik (25) for molesting a 24-year-old girl from Valpoi and stealing her gold chain worth Rs 28,000.
Ponda police said that the girl lodged a complaint stating that she is working in an industrial unit at Kundaim and that the accused befriended her just before Ganesh festival. On September 19, the accused forcibly took the victim in his Maruti Alto car on the pretext of dropping her home. However, instead of reaching her home, the accused took the victim to an isolated place in Farmagudi and attempted to molest her there.
Thereafter, the accused allegedly snatched her gold chain worth Rs 28,000; however, as a price for the chain, the accused forced her to take a bundle of fake currency notes of Rs 2000 denomination, worth Rs 74,000.
Ponda PI Sudesh Naik confirmed that the currency notes of Rs 2000 denomination were fake and they were printed using a colour photo copying machine.
