One held for chain snatching at Neura

Agassaim police apprehended Ashpak Kadur, a 28-year-old resident of New Vadem, Mormugao, for allegedly snatching a gold chain worth Rs 1.60 lakh from 72-year-old Maria Piedade Candelina Fernandes in Neura Grande, Padribhat on Jan 18. 

The complainant, a senior citizen, detailed that the accused forcefully took the gold chain, adorned with a Holy Cross pendant bearing the alphabet ‘GG,’ weighing around 22 grams. The accused fled the scene after forcibly taking the valuable chain from her neck.

Ashpak Kadur was captured in Taleigao and is now under police custody for two days. The stolen property has been successfully recovered. The investigation, overseen by Nidhin Valsan, SP North, and SDPO Sudesh Naik, is ongoing.
