According to police, after creating the fake profile and projecting himself as a woman running an online modeling agency, he would send friend requests over Facebook and chat with minor girls. Once he had developed a friendship he would offer them a modeling carreer with good remuneration.
“The accused would target only minor girls and later ask them to send semi and full naked pictures,” Cyber Crime officials said.
A woman from Mapusa had filed a complaint with the cell regarding her minor daughter’s fake Facebook profile being created and of her being blackmailed by a woman on Facebook.
During investigation, it was revealed that the accused would use all possible shields to protect his identity on the internet and had obtained his internet connection on an old address, where he had not been residing for four years.
However, 125 naked pictures of the complainant’s minor daughter were found, while similar pictures of 10 other girls were also found with the accused.
The police has booked the accused under Section 67 of IT Act and Section 8(2) of Goa Children’s Act and he has been remanded to seven days of police custody.
Police also recovered a laptop and two mobile sets with three different sim cards. The analysis is yet to done, confirmed PI Rajesh Job.
