One held for smuggling alcohol at Margao Station

MARGAO: The Railway Police Force, Margao on Thursday apprehended a man who was trying to smuggle alcohol from Goa and handed him over to the Excise Department for further course of action.

RPF personnel at around 10.15 am noticed a man who was looking suspicious under the foot over bridge at Platform No. 4 of the Margao Railway Station. On seeing the police, the man tried to flee with four back packs and was apprehended by the police.

The police found 180 liquor bottles in his baggage which was worth around Rs 7,000. The man was identified as Laxman Dangi, a 35-year-old resident of Aquem, who was supposed to board the Ernakulam Okha Express train.
