PERNEM: The Pernem Police arrested an Austrian national for possessing illegal narcotics substance suspected to be charas worth Rs 1.20 lakh.
According to Pernem Police Station Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, they received information on one Austrian national involved in alleged illegal drug peddling.
Accordingly, a team was formed and a raid was conducted during evening hours of Sunday at Thorlebagh, Keri and the accused person identified as Stefan Hechenberger, aged 43 years, an Austrian national, was caught red-handed with possession of illegal narcotics substance suspected to be charas worth Rs 1.2 lakh.
The alleged accused is placed under arrest under Section 20(B)(II)(B) of NDPS Act. PI Dalvi informed that the alleged accused had a history of drug peddling and was arrested by Goa Police in 2008.
