One killed, 4 injured in Porvorim mishap

PORVORIM, APRIL 2
A car driver died, while four other inmates sustained injuries, when the car in which they were traveling collided against a pick-up near Angels Resorts, Porvorim, in the wee hours of Friday.
According to Porvorim Police, the accident occurred at about 4.20 am when the pick-up (GA-03-K-0213), which was proceeding from Porvorim to Calangute, collided against the car (DL-3-CAX-5432), which was coming from Calangute.
Car driver Varun Jain and other four inmates Prakash Sharma, Deepak Misra, Pankhaj Sing and Dev Mohanty, all from New Delhi, sustained injuries.
They were rushed to Goa Medical College Hospitals at Bambolim.
Jain succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The post-mortem of the deceased will be done upon arrival of the relatives, said police.
Porvorim Police has registered the offence under Sections 279, 337 and 338 of Indian Penal Code against car driver Varun Jain for rash and negligent driving.
