One more arrested in headless murder case

MARGAO, JAN 26 The Maina Curtorim police on Wednesday arrested another accused in the headless body murder case, taking the number of persons arrested so far to two.

The Maina Curtorim police on Wednesday arrested another accused in the headless body murder case, taking the number of persons arrested so far to two.
The police have also attached a Maruti Van, besides a scooter allegedly used in the commission of the offense.
Maina Curtorim PI Sidhant Shirodkar said that the police arrested Vivek Naik, a resident of Calconda this morning in connection with the brutal murder. Vivek’s arrest comes close on the heels of the arrest of Govind Naik, also a resident of the Calconda area of the city. Naik has been 10 day police custody by local court.
Replying to a question, PI Shirodkar said that around 7-8 persons are also involved in the cold blooded murder of the native of Bellary, Sultan Bellary, whose headless body was found dumped at Nessai on January 11.
PI Shirodkar said a theft that had taken place in a shop in the city here between January 3-4 allegedly involving deceased Sultan is being investigating to ascertain the role of different persons in the murder.
Police said that a group of persons had descended at Pedda-Benaulim in two vehicles in the late hours  of January 9-10 in search of Sultan, who was staying at a construction site in the locality.
PI Shirodkar said the local youth, who were approached has since recognized some of the members of the group who had come to Benaulim in search of Sultan, before taking him away to an unknown destination. The statement of the local youth have been recorded  before the Magistrate.
Maina Curtorim police that investigations are underway to ascertain where was Sultan taken to from Benaulim by the group and why was he murdered in cold blood. The police are also investigating to lay their hands on the missing head of the deceased, besides the weapon use to sever Sultan’s head from his body.
“The police have so far achieved success in identifying the persons, who had lifted Sultan from Benaulim on that night. Interrogations of the arrested persons and arrests of the remaining persons will throw light what happened thereafter which finally resulted in the gruesome murder of the native of Bellary”, remarked a senior police officer.
