One more MLA opposes scrapping of Vasco ODP-2016

Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha had earlier disagreed with TCP’s plan

VASCO: After Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha, another BJP MLA from Mormugao who is also a Minister in the state government has opposed the decision taken by the Town and Country Planning (TCP) minister Vijai Sardesai who recently announced to scrap Outline Development Plan (ODP) for Vasco planning area-2026 along with other ODPs.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Panchayat Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho said “As a minister from Vasco I strongly feel that ODP for Vasco planning area should not be scrapped and the decision should be reversed and I am very clear on this. According to me the entire procedure was followed and we were the members of the committee that drafted OPD for Vasco,” Godinho said.
“Something, which was already notified and finalised should not be reversed because people then will not have faith in any finality of the government. We have to realise the fact that governance is a continuous process, it does not matter who is in power and hence the decisions taken in the past should be duly respected. It’s not that you overturn what had not been done and this should not be the norms,” Mauvin said.
He said that even other MLAs from Mormugao, including Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha had also expressed similar sentiments and hence he will now take initiative to have joint meeting with chief Minister Manohar Parrikar as well as TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on the issue. “We will visit them so as to convince them that whatever has happened is not right. Somebody perhaps has not given right advice to them,” Godinho said further.
