BELGAUM: People of Goa have a reason to cheer, as the prices of onion have crashed further at the APMC Market Yard in Belgaum.
According to wholesale traders at the yard where onions arrive twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday, the prices of onions crashed by an average of Rs 400 per quintal.
According to traders, about 70 vehicles carrying onions arrived in the APMC market yard and auctions continued till late Wednesday evening. Prices of red and white onions came down between Rs 300 to Rs 900 per quintal. Small size onions were auctioned between Rs 100 to 300 per quintal, medium size Rs 500 to 700 per quintal and large size best quality onions were auctioned at Rs 800 to 900 per quintal.
According to wholesale traders, prices are either expected to crash further or may remain stable at least for another couple of weeks.
